Anastassia Lester founded her agency in 1999 and worked between London, Paris and Moscow for almost 25 years, specialising in the representation of French titles in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

In 2015, Laura Karayotov joined the agency to develop the representation in Central and Eastern Europe, including the Baltic countries.

In 2019, they both decided to take a next step in their collaboration and the agency became Lester Literary Agency & Associates.

In 2023, after the untimely passing of Anastassia Lester, Laura Karayotov keeps the name and continues to make books travel.
